| Although UK travel insurance
policies cover a wide variety of illnesses and accidents there are some that will
not be covered.
If you have an existing medical condition when you purchase your policy you
are unlikely to be covered for treatment relating to that condition whilst abroad.
Even treatment that results from common conditions such as high or low blood pressure
will not usually be covered so you should get your quote on that basis and, more
importantly, make sure that you are travelling with minimum risk to your health.
Below are a few examples of situations that will probably be difficult to insure
and which should be declared openly with your travel insurance agent. It is not
an exhaustive list and only offers a few common examples:
- If you (or part of the insured party) are aware of a health related
issue which might give rise to a claim.
- If you (or part of the insured party) have suffered in the past 12 months
a chronic or recurring illness which has been treated.
- If you (or part of the insured party) are expecting to give birth within
a few months (depends on the insurer) of the trip.
- If you (or part of the insured party) have been advised against travelling
by a doctor or other medical practitioner.
